A delightful antique print - a bustling street scene with pedestrians, the Bath Coach entering the City from the west and a heavily laden wagon leaving town. The view (in vignette form) depicts the eastern end of the Strand, with the beginnings of Fleet Street and the clock of St. Dunstan in the West beyond the Bar. The offices of the London Parcel Delivery Company at No. 10 Strand are clearly visible to the right. Engraved by the gifted William Wallis (1816-1855) from an original pencil drawing (now in the Guildhall Library) by Thomas Hosmer Shepherd, the master recorder of 19th century London.
