CAMPION, George Bryant, 1796-1870 : TILBURY FORT, ESSEX. London : George Virtue, 1831. A most attractive antique print of the fort from the river - a boating party sets off watched by a man with a dog, goats and soldiers on the shore, shipping in the distance. Engraved by Henry Adlard (fl.1825-1877) from an original study by the landscape painter George Bryant Campion. Engraved by Samuel Turner Sparrow (fl.1773-1810) from an original drawing by Edward Gyfford. Originally produced for James Stratford's part-work series "London; being an Accurate History and Description of the British Metropolis and its Neighbourhood ... by David Hughson" (London 1805-1810).
