London : George Virtue, 1831. A most attractive antique print of the fort from the river - a boating party sets off watched by a man with a dog, goats and soldiers on the shore, shipping in the distance. Engraved by Henry Adlard (fl.1825-1877) from an original study by the landscape painter George Bryant Campion. Originally produced for "The History and Topography of Essex" published in parts from 1831 onwards.
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 110 x 146mm (approx. 4-3/8" x 5-3/4"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

London : J. Stratford, 1808. An early nineteenth century antique print - the Tilbury Fort from the Thames. Engraved by Samuel Turner Sparrow (fl.1773-1810) from an original drawing by Edward Gyfford. Originally produced for James Stratford's part-work series "London; being an Accurate History and Description of the British Metropolis and its Neighbourhood ... by David Hughson" (London 1805-1810). "Hughson" was in fact the pseudonym of David Pugh.
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 106 x 164mm (approx. 4-1/4" x 6-1/2"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

Etched and engraved by William Bernard Cooke (1778-1855) from an original study by Samuel Owen. Originally produced for Owen's first series of Thames views - "The Thames" (London 1809-1811).
