[London : Charles Tilt, 1839]. A handsome antique print - a vignette view of an early train atop the new bridge built for the London & Birmingham railway and crossing the Towcester-Northampton road. Originally produced for Thomas Roscoe's "The London and Birmingham Railway" (London : 1839).
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 105 x 145mm (approx. 4-1/8" x 5-3/4"). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

Engraved by Frederick Rudolph Hay (fl.1807-1831) from an original study by John Preston Neale. Originally produced for the partwork series "Views of the Seats, Mansions, Castles, etc. of Noblemen and Gentlemen" (London 1829-1831).
