[Leiden : 1727]. An early eighteenth century print of the Tower of London from the river, with the flags of the shipping providing an attractive counterpoint to the towers, vanes and crenellations. Originally produced for Pieter van der Aa's publication "Les Délices de la Grand'Bretagne" (Leiden 1707). The present edition is dated to 1727.
Etching and line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 128 x 161mm (approx. 5" x 6-3/8"). Old folds, paper very slightly toned with age, but a good sharp impression in very good state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 20/006.

An attractive eighteenth century map of the area lying just to the east of the City of London, extending from Crutched Friars and the church of Allhallows Barking across past the Tower of London and the sites of the present Tower Bridge and St. Katherine's Dock to the Hermitage, and including Tower Hill, East Smithfield, etc. A keyed table gives the names of a further sixty-five smaller streets and alleys. Originally produced for the 1720 edition of John Stow's "Survey of London".
