An attractive eighteenth century map of the area lying just to the east of the City of London, extending from Crutched Friars and the church of Allhallows Barking across past the Tower of London and the sites of the present Tower Bridge and St. Katherine's Dock to the Hermitage, and including Tower Hill, East Smithfield, etc. A keyed table gives the names of a further sixty-five smaller streets and alleys. A fine eighteenth century map of Tower Street Ward at the south-east corner of the City of London, taking in (Lower) Thames Street, the Custom House, the churches of St Dunstan in the East, Allhallows Barking and St Olave Hart Street, (Great) Tower Street, Mark Lane, Mincing Lane and Seething Lane. [BOWEN, Thomas, 1733?-1790] : TOWER STREET WARD DIVIDED INTO ITS PARISHES ACCORDING TO A LATE SURVEY. [London : R. Baldwin], 1772. A fine antique map of Tower Street Ward at the south-east corner of the City of London, taking in (Lower) Thames Street, the Custom House, the churches of St. Dunstan in the East, Allhallows Barking and St. Olave Hart Street, (Great) Tower Street, Mark Lane, Mincing Lane and Seething Lane. The map is decorated with a rococo cartouche and the arms of the contemporary alderman, Samuel Turner. Originally produced for John Noorthouck's part-work "A New History of London including Westminster and Southwark" (London : 1772-1773). A fine eighteenth century map of Tower Street Ward at the south-eastern corner of the City of London, taking in (Lower) Thames Street, the Custom House, the churches of St. Dunstan in the East, Allhallows Barking and St. Olave Hart Street, (Great) Tower Street, Mark Lane, Mincing Lane and Seething Lane. The map is decorated with a rococo cartouche, the arms of the contemporary alderman (Thomas Chitty) and elevations of East India House and Westminster Hall.
