[BLOME, Richard, 1635-1705] : TOWER STREET WARD WITH ITS DIVISION INTO PARISHES, TAKEN FROM THE LAST SURVEY, WITH CORRECTIONS.

[London : for A. Churchill, J. Knapton & others, 1720]. A fine eighteenth-century map of Tower Street Ward at the south-east corner of the City of London, taking in (Lower) Thames Street, the Custom House, the churches of St Dunstan in the East, Allhallows Barking and St Olave Hart Street, (Great) Tower Street, Mark Lane, Mincing Lane and Seething Lane. Originally produced by Richard Blome in the late seventeenth century, the map remained unpublished until the present version appeared with the 1720 edition of John Stow’s “Survey of London”.
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 291 x 362mm (approx. 11-1/2” x 14-1/4”). Faint old folds, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map. Adams 25/020. Hyde (Ward Maps) 101/1.

[BOWEN, Thomas, 1733?-1790] : TOWER STREET WARD DIVIDED INTO ITS PARISHES ACCORDING TO A LATE SURVEY.

[London : R. Baldwin], 1772. A handsome antique map of Tower Street Ward at the south-east corner of the City of London, taking in (Lower) Thames Street, the Custom House, the churches of St. Dunstan in the East, Allhallows Barking and St. Olave Hart Street, (Great) Tower Street, Mark Lane, Mincing Lane and Seething Lane. The map is decorated with a rococo cartouche and the arms of the contemporary alderman, Samuel Turner. Originally produced for John Noorthouck’s part-work “A New History of London including Westminster and Southwark” (London : 1772-1773). Other maps in this series were engraved by Thomas Bowen and this would also appear to be his work.
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 174 x 225mm (approx. 6-7/8” x 8-7/8”). A couple of tiny nicks to outer margins, a few faint marks, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map. Adams 51/027. Hyde (Ward Maps) 103.

COLE, Benjamin, 1697?-1783 : TOWER STREET WARD WITH THEIR DIVISIONS INTO PARISHES ACCORDING TO A NEW SURVEY.

[London : for T. Osborne & J. Shipton; and J. Hodges, 1756]. A fine eighteenth-century map of Tower Street Ward at the south-eastern corner of the City of London, taking in (Lower) Thames Street, the Custom House, the churches of St. Dunstan in the East, Allhallows Barking and St. Olave Hart Street, (Great) Tower Street, Mark Lane, Mincing Lane and Seething Lane. The map is decorated with a rococo cartouche, the arms of the contemporary alderman (Thomas Chitty) and elevations of East India House and Westminster Hall. Originally engraved by Benjamin Cole for the part-work edition of William Maitland’s “History of London” (London : 1753-1756).
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 368 x 233mm (approx. 14-3/8” x 9-1/8”). Faint diagonal crease just touching one corner; mild browning and discolouration to left-hand edge; trimmed a little close, but otherwise in very good state. A guaranteed genuine antique map. An antique map of Tower Street Ward at the south-east corner of the City of London, taking in (Lower) Thames Street, the Custom House, the churches of St. Dunstan in the East, Allhallows Barking and St. Olave Hart Street, (Great) Tower Street, Mark Lane, Mincing Lane and Seething Lane – as they stood in the early eighteenth century. Based on a map originally published with the 1720 edition of John Stow’s “Survey of London”, and here in a version produced for the part-work “Old and New London” (London : 1873-1878).
Wood engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 132 x 142mm (approx. 5-1/4” x 5-5/8”). Text on verso. In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

London : W. Clarke, 1816. A charming small antique map – the south-east corner of the City of London – the Thames from London Bridge to St. Catherine’s Stairs, with Leadenhall Street, Fenchurch Street, Billingsgate, the Custom House, the Tower of London, Trinity Square, the Mint, etc. A vignette view of the New Custom House completes the design. Drawn and engraved by John Greig (fl.1800-1843) and originally produced for the part-work publication “Walks through London, including Westminster and the Borough of Southwark” (London : 1816-1817).
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 138 x 80mm (approx. 5-1/2” x 3-1/8”). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map. Adams 121/002.
