London : George Virtue & Co., [1878]. A handsome antique print – a view of Abingdon from the river – cattle drink at the water’s edge in the foreground. Engraved by Charles Cousen (1813-1889) from an original study by the great J. M. W. Turner. Originally produced in 1859 – but here in a later state printed for “The Turner Gallery, a Series of One Hundred and Twenty Engravings” (London : 1878).
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 203 x 245mm (approx. 8” x 9-5/8”). Just a hint of surface dust, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.
