BOWEN, Thomas, 1733?-1790 : QUEEN HITH AND VINTRY WARDS DIVIDED INTO PARISHES FROM A LATE SURVEY. [London : R. Baldwin], 1772. A handsome antique map of the adjacent Thames-side wards of Queenhithe and Vintry to the south of the City of London. The area covered takes in College Hill, Queen Street, Garlick Hill and much of (Upper) Thames Street. The map is decorated with a rococo cartouche, the arms of the contemporary aldermen Frederic Bull and Barlow Trecothick, and with an elevation of St. Michael Queenhithe. Engraved by Thomas Bowen and originally produced for the "London Magazine" in 1771, the present (slightly altered) version of the map was utilised in John Noorthouck's part-work "A New History of London including Westminster and Southwark" (London : 1772-1773). £75 To confirm availability and to purchase this print please note the stock number 23406 and go to the database.
