Engraved by John Greig (fl.1800-1843) from an original study by George Arnald A.R.A. Originally produced for the part-work "Select Views of London and its Environs : Containing a Collection of Highly Finished Engravings" (London : 1804-1805).

"Hughson" was in fact the pseudonym of David Pugh.

ROBERTS, John : VIEW OF WALTHAM ABBEY CHURCH, IN ESSEX.

London : Alexander Hogg, [ca.1786]. An attractive antique print - a view of Waltham Abbey in the late eighteenth century. The view is set on three sides within an engraved frame of leaves and studs. Engraved by John Roberts (fl. 1776-1796) and originally produced for Hogg's partwork publication "The New, Complete, and Universal History, Description and Survey of the Cities of London and Westminster" (1784) - but here in a slightly later impression with the addition of Roberts' name.
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 152 x 210mm (approx. 6" x 8-1/4"). Trimmed to neatline at head; tiny nicks to right-hand blank margin, but overall in good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 61/088B.
