London : Longman & Co., 1828. A handsome antique print – the mediaeval Westgate at Winchester in the nineteenth century. Engraved by John le Keux (1783-1846) from an original study by William Henry Bartlett, with the figures drawn by Thomas Mann Baynes (1794-1854). Originally produced for John Britton’s “Picturesque Antiquities of the English Cities” (1828-1830). The plate is dedicated to the local architect William Garbett (1770-1834).
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 230 x 155mm (approx. 9” x 6-1/8”). A few tiny specks, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

London : Longman & Co., 1829. A handsome antique print – a prospect of Winchester from the countryside to the east of the city. Engraved by William Taylor (fl.1825-1852) from an original study by William Henry Bartlett. Originally produced for John Britton’s “Picturesque Antiquities of the English Cities” (London : 1828-1830). The plate is dedicated to John Ingram, President of Trinity College, Oxford – presumably James Ingram F.S.A. (1774-1850) is intended.
