BALDWIN, Richard, 1724-1770 – publisher : A PLAN OF THE TOWN & CITADEL OF PLYMOUTH IN THE COUNTY OF DEVON.

London : R. Baldwin, [1755]. A charming antique plan of eighteenth-century Plymouth and its surrounds, with a vignette title incorporating an image of the Eddystone Lighthouse. The plan was first issued with the January 1755 issue of the “London Magazine : or, Gentleman’s Monthly Intelligencer”.
Copper line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 179 x 112mm (approx. 6-7/8” x 4-3/8”). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

ANTIQUE MAP: DEVONSHIRE.

[MOULE, Thomas, 1784-1851] : DEVONSHIRE.

[London : George Virtue, 1834]. A fine antique map of the county, decorated with coats of arms, a patterned border, and a vignette view of the Guildall at Exeter. Originally engraved in 1834 by John Crane Dower (1791?-1847) for Moule’s part-work series “The English Counties Delineated” (London : 1830-1837) – and here in very early state, before the addition of railways, etc.
Steel line engraving on paper. Original hand colour. Engraved surface 187 x 247mm (approx. 7-3/8” x 9-5/8”). A few slight marks and specks, but overall in very good and clean state. Rare in this early state and with original colour. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

[MOULE, Thomas, 1784-1851] : ENVIRONS OF PLYMOUTH & DEVONPORT.

[London : George Virtue, 1834]. A fine antique map of the country some ten miles round Plymouth – taking in Calstock, Saltash, Plympton, Newton Ferrers, etc. Decorated with a patterned border, the arms pf Plymouth, and a vignette view of Plymouth Sound. Originally engraved in 1834 by John Crane Dower (1791?-1847) for Moule’s part-work series “The English Counties Delineated” (London : 1830-1837) – and here in very early state, before the addition of later detail.
Steel line engraving on paper. Original hand colour. Engraved surface 202 x 262mm (approx. 8” x 10-1/4”). A few spots and one small inkstain, but overall in very good and clean state. Rare in this early state and with original colour. A guaranteed genuine antique map.
