[COOKE, Edward William, 1811-1880] : HARROW ON THE HILL.

[London : Longman & Co. ; J. & A. Arch & G. Cooke], 1827. A charming antique print – a delicately worked view of Harrow – the church and the school on the hill behind. Etched and engraved by George Cooke (1781-1834) from an original study by his son Edward William Cooke, later to become a famous marine painter. Originally produced for the Cookes’ part-work series “Views in London and its Vicinity” (1826-1834).
Etching and line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 130 x 164mm (approx. 5-1/8” x 6-1/2”). A few tiny specks, mainly to lower blank margin, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 149/015.

From an original design by the painter and illustrator William Luker and engraved in Paris by Ch. Guillaume & Cie. for the Leadenhall Press publication “London City Suburbs” (1893).
Hand touched and finished half-tone process block. Image area 220 x 162mm (approx. 8-5/8” x 6-3/8”). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

LYSONS, Daniel, 1762-1834 : HARROW CHURCH.

[London : 1795]. A handsome antique print of the old parish church of St. Mary at Harrow on the Hill, with its fifteenth century spire. Originally produced for “The Environs of London, being an Historical Account of the Towns, Villages, and Hamlets within Twelve Miles of that Capital” (London : 1792-1796), compiled and illustrated by Daniel Lysons.
Etching on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 191 x 243mm (approx. 7-1/2” x 9-5/8”). In very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

[London] : 1827. A scarce and attractive view of Harrow on the Hill – a horse-drawn cart heading towards the cluster of buildings – the school in the distance. Lithographed by William Louis Walton and printed by Charles Hullmandel. Dated 1827 in the plate.
Lithograph on paper. Contemporary hand colour. Printed surface 177 x 218mm (approx. 7” x 8-5/8”). Margins somewhat dusty and darkened with age, but a good copy of an uncommon print.
