[MOULE, Thomas, 1784-1851] : LINCOLNSHIRE.

[London : George Virtue, 1831]. A fine antique map of the county in flamboyant gothic style, decorated with coats of arms, an architectural border, and inset views of Lincoln Cathedral and Grimsthorpe Castle. Originally engraved by James Bingley (1796-1869) in 1831 for Thomas Moule’s part-work series “The English Counties Delineated” (1830-1837) – and here in very early state, before later revision.
Steel line engraving on paper. Original hand colour. Engraved surface 257 x 203mm (approx. 10-1/8” x 8”). Cropped just a little tight (as usual); a few slight spots and specks, but overall in very good and clean state. Rare in this early state and with original colour. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

A fine antique map of the county – engraved by James Bingley (1796-1869), with additions by William Schmollinger (1811?-1869) – and in flamboyant gothic style, decorated with coats of arms, an architectural border, and inset views of Lincoln Cathedral and Grimsthorpe Castle. Originally engraved in 1831 for Thomas Moule’s part-work series “The English Counties Delineated” (1830-1837). The present version, showing minor revision, is dated to about 1840.
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 257 x 203mm (approx. 10-1/8” x 8”). Cropped just a little tight at head, some faint discolouration to outer margins, but a good example. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

A highly attractive town-plan of Boston in Lincolnshire, decorated with a gothic architectural border, coats of arms and inset views of the bridge, Louth Church and Nocton House. Originally engraved in 1831 by James Bingley (1796-1869) for Moule’s “English Counties Delineated” series (London : 1830-1837) – and here in very early state.
Steel line engraving on paper. Original hand colour. Engraved surface 247 x 180mm (approx. 9-3/4” x 7-1/8”). A few tiny specks and spots, but overall in very good state. Rare in this early state and with original colour. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

A highly attractive town-plan of Boston in Lincolnshire, decorated with a gothic architectural border, coats of arms and inset views of the bridge, Louth Church and Nocton House. Originally engraved in 1831 by James Bingley (1796-1869) for Moule’s “English Counties Delineated” series (London : 1830-1837), with the present edition dating from about 1842.
Steel line engraving on paper. Later hand colour. Engraved surface 246 x 182mm (approx. 9-3/4” x 7”). Mild tanning to outer margins, with one tiny spot, but otherwise in very good state. A guaranteed genuine antique map.

WALKER, J. & C. (WALKER, John, 1787-1873 & WALKER, Charles, 1799?-1872) : LINCOLNSHIRE.

London : J. & C. Walker, [ca.1860]. A clearly engraved map of the county from the Admiralty engravers John & Charles Walker – on a scale of some five miles to the inch, particular attention being given to the newly built railways. Originally published in 1835, but here in a later and updated version.
Line engraving on paper, with original hand colour. Engraved surface 397 x 325mm (approx. 15-3/4” x 12-7/8”). Folding into a contemporary glazed paper case with printed label; just a hint of tanning, case a little rubbed, but overall in very good and clean condition for a fragile item. A guaranteed genuine antique map.
