[London : Longman & Co., J. & A. Arch & G. Cooke], 1828. A charming antique print – the ancient Clock Tower at St. Alban’s, the Market House to the right, the tower of St. Peter’s in the distance. In the foreground the premises of Gibbs, printer and pawnbroker, are given some prominence – this presumably Richard Gibbs (1804-1883), who took over the business from his elder brother George Washington Gibbs (1802-1865) at about this time. Etched and engraved by George Cooke (1781-1834) from an original drawing by the younger James Burton. Originally produced for the part-work series “Views in London and its Vicinity” (1826-1834).
A few tiny marks and specks, but otherwise in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print. Adams 149/011.

[London : L. Tallis, ca.1850]. A pleasant antique print – a view of the abbey from the fields – a man and a dog by a stile in the foreground. Originally produced for Thomas Dugdale’s part-work survey published as “The Curiosities of Great Britain” or “England Delineated” in various formats between 1838 and 1860.
Steel line engraving on paper. Engraved surface 100 x 138mm (approx. 4” x 5-3/8”). Tiny mark in sky, otherwise in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

[London : William Mackenzie, 1880]. A handsome antique print – Tyttenhanger House near St. Alban’s – a view from the grounds. A technically highly accomplished production, colour printed in eight or more overlays from separate wooden blocks by Benjamin Fawcett (1808-1893) from original draughts (drawn on the wood) by Frank Lydon. Originally produced for the Francis Orpen Morris part-work “County Seats of the Noblemen and Gentlemen of Great Britain and Ireland” (1864-1880).
Multiple wood block engraving in colours (chromoxylograph). Engraved surface 134 x 186mm (approx. 5-1/4” x 7-1/4”). A few tiny specks, but overall in very good and clean state. A guaranteed genuine antique print.

A burial takes place in the foreground. Engraved by Joseph Clayton Bentley (1809-1851) from an original study by the landscape painter Charles Marshall. Originally produced for the part-work “Select Illustrated Topography of Thirty Miles Round London” (London : 1837-1838).

Engraved by William Hawkins (fl.1784-1809) from an original study by Robert Blemmel Schnebbelie. Originally produced for the part-work by “Dr David Hughson” [David Pugh] known as “London; Being an Accurate History and Description of the British Metropolis” (London : 1805-1810).
